The Missing Piece

BVA Scientific has a position available for a shipping and receiving clerk to assist with shipping and receiving functions at our distribution warehouse. Working hours are 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. WAREHOUSE CLERK


EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma and one (1) year experience in a distribution warehouse capacity.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and practices, inventory control and safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic pallet jack, pallet lift, hand truck, and prepare basic reports.
  • Ability to engage in heavy physical work including lifting (of at least 60 lbs.), walking or standing for an extended period of time on concrete and uneven surfaces, and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and various programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Receiving Duties:

  • Sign for all incoming shipments from carriers.
  • Verify packing lists to item receipts.
  • Enter all receipts into accounting system.
  • Run pick ticket report to generate pick tickets for items received.
  • Run put away report and put away items not allocated to orders into proper bins.
  • Notify purchasing of short shipments, damaged material or over shipments.

Shipping Duties:

  • Pick items for customer orders and stage for packing.
  • Verify items and quantities, pack product for shipping.
  • Ship product to customers using designated freight carriers.
  • Confirm orders in accounting system.
  • Pick all new orders printed during the day as they come off the printer if stock is available. And repeat the above steps for picking and shipping.
  • Issue call tags for customer returns.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Have all products in properly designated bin locations, aisles clean, floors swept and ready for the next workday.
  • Store all temperature sensitive materials in the walk in refrigerator.
  • Perform Cycle counts of designated locations weekly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
